Silent Grief

A reflection on the losses that do not announce themselves but still shape a life.

Silent grief is the kind that does not ask for attention.

It does not always look dramatic. It looks like competence. It looks like humor. It looks like a person who can explain themselves so well that no one thinks to ask what the explaining is covering.

Silent grief is not less real because it is private. It may be private because it has been dismissed too many times.

I do not need this grief to be louder. I need it to be witnessed. Not fixed. Witnessed.
